Summer Math and Calculator Information

  • Check out Waring's Summer Math page for ideas to incorporate math into your summer and to find your Summer Math Packet!
    • You will find details about Summer Math Review work there and which packet should be completed by your student. All students must work through their math packet by the first week of classes. The only exception to this are students who have completed Precalculus, but are not enrolled in AP Calculus, and do not have a summer math packet.
  • Please be aware of our calculator requirements when you do your back-to-school shopping. Textbooks will be provided through our school’s rental program in September.

Questions? Contact Math Department Chair, Joan Sullivan, at jsullivan@waringschool.org.

Core Supplies
Core students (grades 6 and 7) will be supplied with notebooks for all subjects, in addition to a few other items. Click here to see what additional supplies should be purchased.

Notebooks
Older students (grades 8-12) are free to purchase whatever style of notebook they prefer. A selection of the popular French notebooks and packs of filler paper that are used by Core will be available for older students to purchase at the beginning of the school year.

Groups 1-5 Supplies
Waring does not have an itemized list of required school supplies for grades 8-12. We recommend each student have one notebook per class (at least five, but your student may find a few extras to be helpful), a loose leaf graph-paper notebook, an assignment book, scissors, pens, and pencils. We also recommend a sketchbook (at least 9 x 12 and can be spiral or hardbound). Teachers may provide more specific items that they would like students to have during the first week of school.

Health Information
Before the beginning of each school year, Magnus Health Records sends a welcome email to all guardians with instructions to update their student's account. State law prohibits Waring from allowing students to attend school before this information has been submitted and approved.

Billing and Payment Information
Please reach out to Jackie Cooper for questions on bills and payments.

Pickup Information
  • On Tuesdays and Fridays pickup for all students is at 5PM.
  • On Mondays there will be optional electives, so students can elect to go home at 3:20PM or stay on campus for an elective until 5PM.
  • Thursday pick-up is at 3:20PM for most students, unless they are staying late for a Varsity soccer practice, FLL or FTC.
  • Wednesday pick-up is at 5PM for students in Theater, JV and Varsity Soccer & XC. Core Soccer students may choose not to participate in Wednesday practices and get picked up at 3:20PM. Contact Mike Kersker at mkersker@waringschool.org if you would like your Core soccer student to go home at 3:20PM on Wednesdays. If they choose to stay, it would be a 5PM pickup.
  • Students who sign up for Debate, First Tech Challenge (FTC) or First Lego League (FLL) will hear from their coaches directly with specific changes to the schedule for later pickup times due to certain practices or events.
  • Students doing Theater will hear from the Theater Director with extended rehearsal times for tech week leading up to the Fall Theater performance on November 4-5.
  • The Athletics Calendar is linked here (and you can subscribe to that) with all the home and away games/meets for Soccer and XC that will obviously impact pickup times.
  • Fall Sports & Theater end on Friday, November 5 and Winter Sports Theater begins November 30. Be on the lookout for an email this fall detailing earlier pickup times between the two seasons.

Lunch and Snacks
  • Teenagers are always hungry! Please pack a lunch and some healthy snacks.
  • All students will have a 45-minute lunch period and two breaks each day.
