9th Grade Exploring Orléans
March 7, 2026
Please enjoy these continued chronicles from our 9th Grade exchange with Orléans:
March 5
To begin their day, students accompanied their correspondents to their first two classes. Students visited a variety of classes, including German, Biology, Math, Spanish, and more! Afterwards, we met in our home base and shared experiences from the classes as well as the previous night at home with their correspondents. Additionally, students shared new French vocab and continued their anthropology and writing work.
After lunch in the “cantine,” the group had an excursion to the Parc Florale de la Source – a French garden showcasing several flowers, trees (cherry blossoms!) and animals (flamingos!!). Outside the Parc, the group held a quick birthday celebration for Ashtyn, who turned 16. To get to and from the Parc, students took about a 20 minute ride on the Orléans Tram – and did so successfully!
March 6
In the morning, the group met together for the first two periods and continued their routine of sharing experiences from the prior night and new French words/phrases they had learned. Additionally, they continued their math and anthropology work. After a short break, they headed to classes with their correspondents for a couple class periods.
After lunch, the group travelled to the city center for an observation period for their projects, before heading to the FRAC (Fonds régionaux d’art contemporain) to receive a guided tour. The FRAC is a museum whose fundamental missions are support for contemporary creation, transmission and mediation for access to contemporary art by the widest possible audience. Students then returned home to have a weekend with their host families with many different activities planned, including events and activities in Orléans, and day trips to places such as Versailles!
