9th Grade to Travel to Orléans via Chambord Castle
March 10, 2025
28 Waring School 9th graders and 2 senior TA’s join Chaperones Géraldine Petitdemange, Tim Bakland, and Casey Stevens in a 3-week student exchange to Orléans and Paris.
On Tuesday, the group will visit the chateau of Chambord, a magnificent 16th century castle in the Loire Valley which features French Renaissance architecture and which was originally the hunting lodge of François I. The group will spend the afternoon at the chateau before completing their journey to the city of Orléans, the famous site of the Siege of Orléans (May, 1429, nearly 600 years ago) where Jeanne d’Arc was a key figure in this pivotal event during the 100 years war. Students will spend the next two weeks in their host families in Orléans where we will spend time between school and many day outings in and around the Orléans area.
