Pictured on the right, 9th grader, Harrison Tinger, shows off his French cheese (“Mimolette”) from the Orléans market to classmates.

On Wednesday, we settled into school life in the morning at St. Charles.  We were welcomed by school leadership in a reception at the ‘cantine’ (dining hall) and we gave gifts (local books from Boston) to the school from Waring.  In the classroom, Waring students did some writing (prompted by TA, Caitlyn) and some math (with TA, Amelia).  In the afternoon we walked from the school to the ‘centreville’ of Orléans.  We walked to the Cathérale Ste Croix, visited bookstores where students could purchase French notebooks, went to an outdoor marketplace, and then treated ourselves to the iconic Carousel ride (after which Tim Bakland told the students that the Carousel had been recently reopened for the first time in 150 years after the ‘Orléans Carousel tragedy of 1875’ — but of course he was just being a jokester!).
