Kathryn Diaz

Humanities, Writing, Electives, and Tutor

Kathryn brings a rich literary and creative life to the classroom. She holds a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Houston and an MFA in Fiction Writing from Cornell University, where she taught writing seminars ranging from vampire mythology to the queerness of imagination. Most recently, she taught English at The Loomis Chaffee School, designing curriculum in global and postcolonial literature and college-level creative writing, and empowering students to run their own peer workshops. Her fiction has appeared in The Cincinnati Review, and she is a recipient of the Martin Sampson Teaching Award. Outside the classroom, Kathryn delves into the history of witchcraft and horror, jams to Florence and the Machine and her favorite musical theater albums, and tracks down the scariest, most challenging, or most enjoyable books she can find. Ask her about tarot cards, her favorite stationery brands, who should have won a Tony, or her cat-child, Potato.
