Joan Sullivan

Joan is Waring’s Academic Dean and has been part of the community since 2012. She holds a BA in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross and a Masters in Teaching (Mathematics) from Boston College. At the heart of her work is a commitment to nurturing an academic program where students thrive not just as critical thinkers and problem-solvers, but also develop their own voice and expertise as learners. Joan believes that empowering students to ask questions and share perspectives is essential to their growth, inside and outside the classroom. She treasures her time in the math classroom, where she continues to be inspired by her students each day.
Outside of school, Joan can often be found in the pottery studio, on the ski slope, or curled up with a good mystery novel. She is also honing her skills on the golf course, proof that learning curves aren’t just for students.
