Top 3 Reasons To Spend Summer at Waring
January 23, 2025
Summer is such a unique time of year. Warm days, mild evenings, and a sense that the days go on and on as the sun takes its time setting. Then there are the friends to see and summer bucket list items to check off. It can be tempting to let yourself lounge on the couch or give your brain a rest.
However heavenly it may sound to sit back and relax all summer, it would mean missing some amazing opportunities and programs at Waring that could inspire your passion for robotics, programming, computer-aided design, visual arts, theater, outdoor exploration, music, and so much more.
Let’s take a closer look at why you should spend your Summer at Waring!

#1 – Explore A Passion
Whether you are looking for a full-day or half-day experience at Waring, there is a wide variety of programs that could ignite your passion for technology, arts, music, theater, LEGO League robotics, crafts, jewelry-making and yoga.
Have a passion for one of these areas but never seem to have enough time to explore it in a meaningful way? The Summer at Waring programs give ample opportunity to dive deep into your passions with expert guidance from our supportive and knowledgeable staff.
Programs include:
- WaringWorks is a full-day program for ages 7-13 that involves visual arts, theater, outdoor exploration, and music.
- The WaringWorks Jr. Half Day Program runs from 9 am to 1 pm daily and is designed for ages 5-7 that involves arts and crafts, movement, outdoor play, jewelry-making, theater, yoga, and more.
- The WaringWorks Jr. Full Day is an extended program for ages 5-7 that involves arts and crafts, movement, outdoor play, jewelry-making, theater, yoga, and more. This is an extended version of the WaringWorks Half Day Program.
- Robot & CAD Design is geared for grades 9 and up and gives students an opportunity to learn how to design and CAD robots for FIRST Tech Challenge. This program runs from 9 am to 4 pm daily and prepares students for roles on robotics teams by giving them hands-on experience tackling fun challenges.
- Java Coding to FTC uses Code Academy to help high school-aged students (9th graders and up) with the skills needed to program in Java to control a FIRST Tech Challenge robot. Participants will learn how to program the robots to both move autonomously, based on sensor input, as well as to operate based on input from a remote control. Prior to attending, participants must complete a free programming course, Learn Java (from Codecademy), before the first day of the camp.
- Intro and Advanced FIRST LEGO League programs teach the basics of building and coding an FLL robot and dive deeper into the skills needed to build and code a successful FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robot respectively. These two programs are perfect for rising 6th-8th graders who want to learn the basics or fine-tune their already sharp FLL skills.
- Debate – Our Debate Coach and members of the Waring Debate Society will be offering instruction in debate to incoming 6-12th graders and members of the greater Beverly community who are interested in developing their skills in debate.
#2 – Develop a Skill
If you love learning something new or getting better at something you have already been introduced to, Summer at Waring is a good place to start your summer vacation. From learning how to build and code robots to working on your communication and debate skills, Waring’s summer programs allow participants to work at their own pace and progress in the skills they want to master. Add in the fact that it’s pretty cool to become a programmer or robot guru and you have a recipe for summer success.
#3 – Make Lifelong Friendships
Waring is known for its warmth and welcoming campus with students and faculty who are excited to meet, get to know, and learn from each other. This unique summer experience will be something that you will share with other children your age who will become fast friends.

“WaringWorks camp was a uniquely wonderful summer experience for my son John. There was always an option for an activity that he was excited about, and the incredible staff made sure he felt supported and cared for as an individual. The weeks he spent at Waring were the highlight of his summer, and he is so excited to return in 2025.
