In a rematch of last year’s MBIL final, Waring played a nice brand of soccer at times but didn’t get the result they were hoping for as they kicked off at home yesterday against rival Gann Academy.

Waring went up early in the second half on a goal from Freshman Cole Sauder, assisted by Tri-captain Sascha Denby. The lead didn’t last for long as Gann equalized on a counter attack seven minutes later. Although Waring held the play for a sizeable amount of the game, Gann was impressively resilient and went ahead 2-1 with nineteen minutes remaining after converting on a penalty kick. Gann found the back of the goal two more times as the score read 4-1 at full time.

The defending Mass Bay Independent League Champs are 1-2 at this point in the season and take on Boston Trinity Academy on Friday at Boston Trinity.
