Waring Debate opened its varsity season at the Bronx High School of Science in New York City on October 16-18 competing against 450 debaters from all over the country. Bronx Science is one of 9 specialized high schools in the NYC public school system.
Waring's Debate teams held their own with the following strong records: Jack & Grace (4W-3L, losing only to finalist teams), Sam & Liam (3W-4L) and Tristan & Sascha (3W-4L). The teams had a great time, and the debates were really exciting on the topic: The United States Federal Government ought to pay reparations to African Americans. Nicie Panetta and debate coach Tim Averill judged throughout the weekend.
