Sixteen Students Awarded Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Waring School is pleased to announce the students who were recognized by this year’s Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Despite the pandemic, there were close to 6,000 entries from throughout the state. The Gold Key winners are sent on to be judged nationally, with the Gold Key work from around the country.

For Art, Yaqi Liu and Matthew Lee were recognized for four photography pieces each. Katharine Judy (painting) and Lou Penaloza (drawing & illustration) also took home multiple awards.

Ethan Wood was awarded a Gold Key for his painting of Boston City Hall (pictured below). Miranda Cotter-Holland (photography), Ireland Doran (photography), and Ian Morrison (jewlry) all received Silver Key awards for their pieces.

Waring School also impressed in the Writing department! Rowan Mulder (short story), Annabelle Palumbo (short story), and Noah Schiller all were honored with Silver Key awards.

Receiving honorable mentions were Arion Carraher-Kang (poetry), Elizabeth Gile (short story), Beatrix Karambis (short story), Leah Smith (short story), and Eleanor Soininen (personal essay & memoir).
