Lisa Brooke

Meet Lisa

Lisa Brooke joined Waring in 2020, and has been teaching PA music classes. She is a violinist, who also taught a string ensembles and private students at Shore Country Day School for 3 1/2 years. and at Salem State University, (pre-pandemic). Her idealistic approach to all things musical, and her deep passion and commitment to the art form, have drawn praise for her as a performer and teacher alike. Lisa's teaching philosophy is wrapped around her firm belief that learning is a fluid art form. She teaches the students within the realm of what they can grasp, and keeps them on a slightly uncomfortable edge of stretching to the next level just beyond their current reach, using encouragement, enthusiasm and passion, to inspire growth and motivation. Beloved by her violin students and violin class alike, where challenging and instructing, but always trying to receive from the students what they need in order to flourish, is her point of departure.

As a student at Music and Art High School, where she was concertmaster and graduated with highest honors, and the Manhattan School of Music Pre-college division, Lisa spearheaded music outreach lecture/concerts in the underserved population of NYC, through the public schools. She received her BFA from Suny College at Purchase, where she was concertmaster of the senior orchestra.

As a performer, Lisa Brooke is praised for her “unusually intelligent and sensitive playing” and her CD recording referred to by Fanfare Magazine, as "simple and brilliant in execution", she is concertmaster of Symphony by the Sea, where she has appeared as soloist. An avid chamber music performer, she has performed with many chamber ensembles in New York and Boston, including Rumbarroco, La Donna Musicale, and with Musica Sacra, and has appeared as soloist with New England Classical Singers and the Salem Philharmonic. She performed in NYC with the Orchestra of St. Lukes`, and with Leonard Bernstein and James Levine in the Music for Life concerts, in Carnegie Hall. In Boston, she subs with the Boston Symphony Pops, is principal second violinist and has recorded with Coro Allegro, where she also often plays concertmaster and first violin in chamber music, and is concertmaster for the New England Classical Singers. A tenured member of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Lisa Brooke has played with Barbra Streisand, Chuck Mangione, and as concertmaster for Liza Minnelli, concerts and CD recording, to name a few popular singers with whom she has performed, and has recorded with Deutsche Gramophone, Nonesuch, Telarc and Opus 1 and played on film scores and commercials in NYC.
