Kristen Paratore Bock

ESL and Learning Skills Specialist

Meet Kristen:

Kristen Paratore Bock is Waring’s ESL and Learning Skills Specialist. She joined Waring in October 2020.

Kristen has 20+ years experience helping middle school, high school, and adult students learn to love reading and writing. Most recently, she has worked as a Literacy and Executive Functions Specialist at the Fenn School in Concord, MA, and as an English Teacher at Cambridge School of Weston. Before moving to the North Shore, she taught Creative Writing and Playwriting at Middlesex School Summer Arts.

Kristen believes that all students have something positive to offer and that building on individual students’ interests, experiences, and strengths will help foster creativity and personal growth. An avid reader and writer, Kristen’s all-time favorite books are A Winter’s Tale, by Mark Helprin and The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway. In her free time, she likes to sail, walk in the woods, listen to showtunes or Americana music, practice yoga, and spend time with her family.

As an undergraduate student, Kristen studied English and Spanish literature at Colby College. She also earned master's degrees from Boston University in Literacy Education and from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in International Education Policy. She earned a C.A.E.S. degree from Boston College in Curriculum and Instruction. She continues to take creative writing classes when she can make time.
