John Wigglesworth

Meet John:
John teaches Math through the Precalculus level, Earth Science to Group 1, and Earth & Environment to Group 5. He holds a BS degree in Fisheries and Marine Technology from the University of Rhodes Island, a Master of Education degree from Harvard, and a Doctorate of Education degree from Boston University. 
John has been a teacher in a blend of traditional and experience-based education for more than 40 years. He enjoys helping students develop a curiosity for learning and respect for all of earth's interacting systems.

John is an avid runner, biker, and swimmer. He enjoys hiking, skiing, sailing, and developing his woodworking skills. He has a passion for studying weather and high latitude environments. Prior to Waring, John served for 25 years as mate or master of ocean going vessels, some of which combined the traditions of sailing ships with state-of-the-art resources to study the world's oceans. He has logged several thousand miles at sea and holds a United States Coast Guard Ocean Master Mariner's License for Auxiliary Sail Vessels not more that 3000 gross tons. John is a parent of two Waring alumni, Rosie (Class of 2014), attending Harvard University, and Nick (Class of 2016), attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges. John joined Waring in 1998.
