Eliza

Class of 2024
  • Hometown: Rockport, MA
  • Time at Waring: Three years
  • Favorite Class: I feel like my favorite classes vary year to year and teacher to teacher. However I have really enjoyed chemistry as well as my writing classes.
  • Favorite Waring experience: Last year during Endterm I hiked through the Presidential Range with a group of Waring Students. Not only was it a beautiful and incredible opportunity, it was also a humbling experience.
  • Why no grades: Not having grades sort of shatters this hierarchy that is created with grades. Where you identify with a letter or a number. It creates equality and community, where everyone is rooting for everyone else.
  • Favorite book and/or film: This is a difficult question. I really love all of Louisa May Alcott's books. I also found Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison to be amazing. My favorite movie is either Wind (1992) or Inception.
  • Why French: I have always found French to be a beautiful language. When I first visited France in 6th grade I fell in love with the French language and culture.
  • After-school activities: Varsity Soccer and Lacrosse, Tennis, Sailing, Editor in Chief of Waring's Newspaper, Writing TA. I also enjoy surfing, swimming and traveling.
  • Our community: It feels like one big family, where everyone knows each other exceptionally well. We are a group of driven, motivated, and caring students.
