Class of 2024
  • Hometown: Newburyport
  • Time at Waring: Three years
  • Favorite Class: Art
  • Favorite Waring experience: At the end of sophomore year my grade went to Portland Maine for two days to make up for missing the freshman trip to France. Everyone played games and watched movies and went swimming in the hotel pool together. During the second day the teachers organized a scavenger hunt for us around the city and we had to do some crazy things. I felt so close with my grade, which was amazing.
  • Why no grades: Having evals instead of grades is way more humanizing. You're seen as a complex human being who is valued for their effort rather than just being a letter or a number. It also builds fabulous student/teacher relationships.
  • Favorite Book or Movie: My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice because no matter how many times I read it I always find something new that I didn't notice the first time. It's also just really comforting.
  • Why French: Learning French has already helped me so much, I went to Montreal with my family and was able to translate for them everywhere we went. Being bilingual is so helpful in the real world and also it's super fun.
