Employment Opportunity: French Department Chair
The Waring School is seeking a French Department Chair on either a part- or full-time basis. The position will also involve teaching two French classes anywhere from the Beginner to the AP level. The French Department Chair is responsible for administrative oversight of all aspects of the French program, including the recruitment of new teachers; staffing assignments; faculty development and evaluation; budgeting; student placement; the support and mentoring of new teachers; curriculum development and evaluation; coordination of a partial immersion program at the middle school level; and oversight of special programs and events sponsored by the department, such as the Concours de Poésie and the Grand Concours. The French Department Chair also has overall responsbility for the Waring-in-Angers program and is expected to participate actively in the program by leading the group for a month in Angers at least every other year. To merit serious consideration, applicants must be fluent in French and have at least 4–6 years of teaching experience. A master’s degree and previous administrative experience are preferred. Both part- and full-time teachers are expected to participate in the life of the school through the attendance of meetings and activities at the department, faculty, and all-school levels.
