What people are saying
about Waring
Our son and his fellow alumni are leading extraordinary lives, all over the world. At Waring, they were challenged, nurtured, and taught to aim high and to always value learning. We support the Annual Fund to honor and thank Waring for this. —Alum Parent
We don’t have it all down, we take chances, and we don’t know how it’s going to go all the time… So I feel like at Waring, I can continually set the bar much higher than I would be able to at most places. We reach it a lot, and I also think that we reach it with spirit.”

Giving to the Annual Fund
Dear Waring Community,
At Waring, late fall is a serious season. Now is the time when the uplifting and unifying spirit created by camping trip and Convocation merges with the realities of hard work and important discussions. As parents we are watching our students dig into vast texts, solve difficult math problems, “cowboy up” for the team, and stretch for vibrant musical performance. The serious business of learning, in all its forms, has become the focus of their lives, as it should be.
From the parents’ position on the outside, we see students take on not just their studies, but also important roles as members of the school community; protecting and enlarging the school’s scope, adding a personal flair, and passing on traditions large and small that define the Waring culture.
As parents, we too have a stewardship role in the school community. We are responsible for ensuring that Waring will continue to be an accessible institution, able to offer its unique experience to those students for whom it is the best possible learning environment.
To do this, we appeal to parents, alumni, and friends of the school to contribute to the Annual Fund. Between the cost of a Waring education and income from tuition is a 14% gap, which is made up from investments, fees, and the Annual Fund. Annual Fund contributions enable Waring to balance its budget at the current tuition level. These contributions ensure that the school can meet its expenses and continue its successful scholarship program.
This year, the Annual Fund goal is set at $220,000. We need your help to keep Waring accessible and affordable. Maintaining stewardship in tough economic times is a serious challenge. A contribution from every family will help us reach our goal and guarantee a Waring education for those who exemplify our spirit and for whom learning is a lifelong endeavor.
Thank you,
Craig Barrows and Nina Cohen
